The practice’s patient participation report was undertaken as a result of the / Patient Participation Direct Enhance Service (DES) commissioned by the Department of Health. The purpose of the patient participation DES is to ensure that patients are involved in decisions about the range and quality of services provided and over time. Information Leaflets. The group comprises of approximately ten patient members and two rotational members from the medical and administrative staff of the practice who meet monthly. ideas and concerns raised to help improve and enhance a high quality service in general practice for the mutual benefit of all concerned. Patient Participation Group (PPG) There have been some major changes within the NHS recently and the main focus has been on primary care and general practice. In short, the aim has been to put a lot of the decision making back into the hands. Patient participation, as it pertains to the formation of health policy, is a process that involves patients as stakeholders, advisors and shared decision practice of engaging patients in health policy originated from the consumer advocacy movement, which prioritized consumer safety, access to information and public participation in public health programs.
General Practices have been encouraged to set up Patient Participation Groups over the last two years. The purpose of these Patient Participation Groups is to ensure that patients are involved in decisions about the range and quality of services provided.
